This project for the Township of South Brunswick was actually performed in Plainsboro as an infrastructure improvement to an existing pump station and trunk main. The project was broken into (2) individual projects.
The Mapleton Road Sanitary Sewer portion consisting of roughly 2,890 LF of 15” SDR 35 pipe installed at depths ranging from 8’ to 18’, installation of (20) manholes and tie-ins. This project, along with the difficulties of being in an existing roadway with utilities, also presented ground water issues as we were working along the Delaware and Raritan Canal. At the completion of this phase of the project the main and manholes were vacuum tested and showed 0% leakage and infiltration.
The Campus Road Manhole Replacement portion of this project consisted of the replacement of (5) manholes varying in depth from 12’ to 30’ over an existing 15” live sewer main and the interior rehabilitation of (1) manhole with an epoxy coating. This work, after the excavation, shoring and bypass pumping were in place, then had to be performed quickly and closely monitored by the MUA as to avoid any pump station overflow while continuing the gravity flow.
